Our Work

What can I expect when I visit?

You can expect to be treated like family.  We value each and everyone that enters our facility no matter their social, economic or spiritual position.

Why we do certain things:

Harvest Family Worship Center is a Pentecostal body.  We observe the operations of the Gifts of the Spirit.  We pray for the sick and special needs.   We are evangelistic in our efforts to introduce every unbeliever to Jesus Christ.

Why we stand when we sing:

“Then the Levites of the children of the Kohathites and of the children of the Korhites stood up to praise the Lord God of Israel with voices loud and high.” (2 Chronicles 20:19)

Why we clap our hands:

“Oh, clap your hands, all you peoples! Shout to God with the voice of triumph!” (Psalm 47:1)

Why we lift our hands:

“Thus I will bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name.” (Psalm 63:4)

“Therefore I desire that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.” (1 Timothy 2:8)

Why we have audible praise unto God:

“I will bless the Lord at all times, His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” (Psalm 34:1)

“So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord and said: Lord, You are God, who made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them.” (Acts 4:24)

Why we pray in tongues and in English:

“For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is the result then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding, I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding. (1 Corinthians 14:14-15)

Why we have this type of worship:

“But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. (John 4:23-24)

Why we sing choruses as well as hymns:

“And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.” (Ephesians 5:18-19)

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” (Colossians 3:16)

Why we have prophecy:

“But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men.” (1 Corinthians 14:3)

“For you can all prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all may be encouraged,” (1 Corinthians 14:31) “Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge.” (1 Corinthians 14:29)

“Therefore, brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak with tongues.” (1 Corinthians 14:39)

Why we have speaking in tongues and interpretation of those tongues:

“I wish you all spoke with tongues, but even more that you prophesied; for he who prophesies is greater than he who speaks with tongues, unless indeed he interprets, that the church may receive edification.” (1 Corinthians 14:5)

“But the manifestations of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all - to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues.” (1 Corinthians 12:7, 10)

“If anyone speaks in a tongue, let there be two or at the most three, each in turn, and let one interpret.” (1 Corinthians 14:27)

Why musical instruments are a part of the worship service:

“Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet; Praise Him with the lute and harp! Praise Him with the timbrel and dance; Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes! Praise Him with loud cymbals; Praise Him with high sounding cymbals!” (Psalm 150:3-5)

Why the whole church prays at once for specific needs:

“So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord and said: Lord, You are God, who made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them.” (Acts 4:24)

Why we anoint with oil and pray for the sick:

“Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the Name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.” (James 5:14-15)
